We are not considered organic, but we do grow our produce with little to no chemicals. We do this by laying a strip of plastic with a drip tape underneath with an implement called a plastic mulch layer. This provies us with weed control and also creates tons of humidity for the root systems. The drip tape under the plastic allows us to water each row individually, and is also extremely efficient. We make a small hole for each plant to be placed into the ground, and away they go!
